Acrylic and coloured pencil on A4 gesso treated watercolour paper...
The first time I have used acrylics in years! it's was very satisfying and relaxing to focus on painting for a day. I used some matt & iridescent acrylic medium that I have never used before and they made the paint very easy to work with. Any acrylic users have any other tips or products that they like to use?
eek! you are just killing me! this is so lovely! i want to see it in person to see the interface/iridescent stuff.... sigh....
have you tried flow-ease and blending mediums?? i find them enourmously helpful when dealing w/ acrylic [which always seems to dry too fast and feel plastic to me - before the above....]

Finally something I can comment usefully about! Daler-Rowney make a tube of 'stuff' that slows the drying time of acrylic paints. Which I think is great for the likes of me who occasionally uses acrylic for lino printing purposes (more permanent than the smudge-able water-based inks) but ends up having to work very quickly to avoid a 'skin' forming on the lino. (link here: http://www.daler-rowney.com/prod_catalogue/ProductPage.asp?category=4&brand=23&ProductID=2271
) Slow-drying gel.
Btw, I was just wondering about the gocco print? Did you get my email?

Great painting Natalie!...I worked for years in Millers art shop in Glasgow, and yes(!) aren't the mediums great!! I especially like the retarder gels that stop the acrylic from drying so fast, they can almost make the paint work more like oils in the 'blendability' stakes, and if you add loads of that or the gloss medium, you can achieve a lovely transparent glazing effect like when you add lots of water to the paint, but with the medium you are able to push it around loads...:) Looking forward to seeing the rest of the birdie pics to come! X
