As I have mentioned before I have just bought my first flat and hope to move within the next few months, so my thoughts will be with design of homewares and interiors for the next few months. The amount of good and original design in this area is huge and the possiblities of the rooms can be a bit overwhelming. After renting for so long and not being able to paint or decorate - one thing I am sure of, I want my new home to reflect me (and G of course!) I will be scouring the archives of design*sponge for inspiration. Recently I have been interested in the customisation of wallpaper and the vinyl stickers that can be applied to walls. I had the idea of maybe transferring one of my line drawings onto a feature wall and played about with a few images on photoshop. Recently for my paintings I have been planning to increase the scale but this is difficult because i draw with a nib pen and recreating the line quality on a large scale is very difficult. So I want to save for one of these artograph tracers (any excuse to buy a new toy!) and maybe I can experiment with increasing the scale of my artwork and also try transfering one of my drawings onto a wall in my new home.
That would be amazing....so cool!! It would be fab contrasted with retro furniture, like you have shown here....new flats are so exciting!

hi natalie!! i think its a splendid idea! murals are among my favorite projects i've done to date. one thing i wanted to let you know is that you really need to get the biggest projector, i have one of those artograph ones, its tiny! :) (i dont think it was the junior model either!) just thought i'd let you know. it does work great though!
and how can i fly you out to my house to commission some wall floral in my rooms? :))

THat is so rad! I love the first one sooo much! When we get a home, will you come visit and make one for us?? (kidding-sort of)
but really, that is amazing and I think that if you wanted to market this for others it could be huge. Wow! It really is breathtaking and so much better thatn anything out there right now. The dick blick line of bird decals and such pale in comparison to this. Okay-sorry to sound like a freak-but really, this is gorgeous!

Go for it!! Your artwork would look stunning on a wall!

You also could use a vector-based tracing tool to "trace" a scan. The traced image could then be enlarged and printed out to whatever size you want without becoming bitmappy or jaggedy on the edges. There used to be a program called Streamline that could do it, or maybe the tracing tool in Illustrator? I haven't done it in so long that I'm not up to date on what people are using. I think your work will look lovely large scale.

AMAZING!! i got a small tracer and don't care for it very much...maybe i need the larger one?? i am trying to get my hands on an old fashioned overhead projector...but then you need to make a transparency first. that's what i used to put the ship on the wall for my show (borrowed it from work). anyhow, i LOVE these so so much.

How cool! I am so jealous that you are getting to decorate your own place, eeeekkkk.
Any word on a moving in date?

Yay! Thanks for all the lovely comments of encouragement! Will get to work planning a drawing and a colour scheme. Originally I wanted a wall of Rachel Kelly designs or a strip of Louise Body Wallpaper in the hallway, but money is tight and this might be a good idea to inject a bit of life into a plain hallway.
Thanks also for the recommendations about the Artograph tracers; I haven’t used one before and might reconsider a purchase of one of these – they are so expensive too and if it’s not great at increasing to large sizes I might look into an alternative. Michelle thanks for the vector tool trace idea – this has given me some ideas!
K – Not got a moving date yet. Things are dragging – it’s looking like the move will be nearer to end of July/start of August now!
