...To say that I am behind with the online world is a huge understatement at the moment. A major life event has been keeping me very occupied (more on this soon!) Apologies to everyone who has emailed me or left a comment recently and haven't received a response - I will endeavour to catch up
Some readers may have already read on Mav's site that our collaboration of hand printed limited edition cards is now being sold on Papa Stour! Our first UK based stockists of our art and letterpress collaboration.
( Check out our little photo on the artist's page too. It makes me smile that we hare born within days of each other, have collaborated together but have still never met! )
We are extremely happy and proud to be part of Rosie's fabulous web store as we have both been long admirers of Rosie's vision with Papa Stour.
Here is quote from Papa Stour
"In a world of mass produced products, Papa Stour choose to relish in the opposite and embrace art and craftsmanship in its purest form."
I love that Rosie chooses to showcase the original and the handcrafted. I am also delighted that the artists and makers featured come from all over Scotland.
Please check out the other artist's work too on Papa Stour - the collection of work seems so cohesive due to Rosie's styling and vision (and maybe all the artist's and maker's Scottish roots show through in the work too!)
Recently I read on Karin Eriksson blog that she gave our card's to a friend as a wedding gift and I just love this idea!
Thanks to everyone who have already purchased our cards. Our spring line 'Aurum Stria' is a limited edition print run, so when they are gone - they are gone!
*breathe* I can breathe again. Feeling a lot better after 2 solid weeks of cold/fever/coughing. Thanks everyone for your recommendations for immune boosters. I will be stocking up on water, miso soup, echinacea, pau d'arco over the next week and eating healthy to get energy levels back up.
Here is a new painting; a spring butterfly.
Aurum
{definition - gold}
Stria
{definition - a linear mark, ridge, or groove, especially one of a number of similar parallel features}
So…I am sure that some of you will be aware of my collaboration with Maria at port2port press! Our first collection entitled ‘Aurum Stria’.
This is the first time I have collaborated on a project with another artist and it has been such a positive experience to exchange ideas and inspire one another to create a product that we are both extremely proud of. We worked so well together it seems bizarre that this project was completely conducted via email and the Internet; having never met or spoken to each other!
I have long admired Maria’s letterpressed art and how she is taking the medium into new and fresh territory. Maria’s sense of space, eye for detail and inherit ability to appreciate simple form and shape can be seen in these cards.
Maria transformed my ink drawings into gold lines pressed into the paper and co-ordinated with blues of a spring day. Primarily drawn using a nib pen and Indian ink, the variance in the thickness of line that the ink produces has translated so well into indented grooves in the paper. Even the tiny ink splashes of my drawings have been transformed into pits in the paper that you can be touched, and that is what I love about letterpress; Tactility, the ability to touch and feel the line.
I want to thank Maria for her hard work with this collaboration, her enthusiasm and energy has been an inspiration. I hope you like the cards and if you would like to purchase them they are available from Little Paper Planes
